How to DIY Your Wedding Flowers: Every Tutorial You Need
You don't need a floral design degree to do your own wedding flowers. You need good information, a little practice time, and stems you can actually trust.
That's what this page is for — it's home base for everything we've taught, organized by what you're making. Whether you're starting with a bouquet or diving straight into ceremony arches, you'll find step-by-step tutorials for all of it right here.
Every tutorial category below has its own page with videos and written guides. Flower care — conditioning, hydrating, storing — lives on its own page too, because getting that right is the foundation for everything else.
Start Here: Flower Care
Before any arranging happens, your flowers need to be properly conditioned. This is the step that determines how your flowers look on the wedding day, and it's the one most people skip or rush. Don't skip it.
The Flower Care 101 page covers everything — how to unbox your flowers when they arrive, how to make a fresh cut, how to get them into water correctly, how to store them at the right temperature, and what to do if something looks off. We also have a Quick Start Guide you can download and print if you want something physical to reference while you're working.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need any experience to DIY my wedding flowers?
Nope! Most of our customers have never made a bouquet before and they pull it off beautifully. Our tutorials are built for beginners. Review the flower care page so your stems arrive in great shape. Pick the tutorial category for whatever you're making and follow along. If you get stuck, we're here.
Where do I start if I've never done this before?
Start with deciding how much DIY you want to do. Our packages are a great starting point. We also offer customization through our Build Your Own Box options, as well as Custom Floral Design services. If you're unsure which option is best for you, reach out to us! We are happy to guide you towards the best option for your situation!
After you've chosen your flowers, browse through our tutorials. Start with the Flower Care 101 page which is the foundation of great flowers.
Once you know how to condition and store your flowers, move to the tutorial category for the arrangement you're most nervous about and practice building it before your wedding week. One practice run makes a bigger difference than anything else.
How long before my wedding should I start practicing?
Ideally, do at least one practice run a few weeks before the wedding. That gives you time to practice and feel confident going into wedding week. Don't leave your first attempt for the week of. That's too much pressure.
Can I make all my own wedding flowers, or should I DIY only some of them?
Either works! Most brides do everything themselves; bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, ceremony arrangements, all of it. Others DIY the personal flowers and hire out the large ceremony pieces. There's no rule. It depends on your time, budget, and how much you enjoy the process. Our tutorials cover everything so you can pick and choose.
What supplies do I need to get started?
It depends on what you're making, but the basics for most arrangements include floral snips or sharp scissors, floral tape, a clean bucket of water for hydration, and whatever mechanics your arrangement needs (floral wire, water tubes, etc.). Each tutorial page lists the specific supplies for that style. You can also shop our supply kits here; we put together kits so you don't have to hunt down individual items.
How do I know how many flowers to order?
Use our free Budget Calculator; it gives you a personalized estimate based on your wedding specifics. You can also visit the How Much Should I Buy page for general guidance by arrangement type. If you want someone else to handle all of the quantities and recipe building, our professional florists would love to help through a custom design! You can learn more about a custom floral design here.
