These bouts were made for twerkin

Making your boutonnieres and corsages is the easiest part of your whole build, yet they're the most intimidating for many DIY brides. Below we'll show you just how easy it is to make these sweet little accents! You can make these up to 2 days ahead of time if you keep 'em hydrated with wet floral foam.

You'll use your "scraps" from your bouquets to make these. If a bloom gets cut too short, don't throw it away! Pop it in wet floral foam and keep it for bouts!

Bonus: when you're done, you can hold one up like a tiny bouquet & pretend you're a giant. (No? Just me? Okay let's move on.)

The basic formula:
1 focal + 1 accent + 1 greenery

You'll also want stem tape to keep your lil bouts together and bind wire (or ribbon) to cover the tape.

** For corsages, you'll use 2-3 focal flowers. Basically they're a slightly larger version of the bouts!
TA DA! Now wasn't that easy???

We've got some super fast video tutorials (below) as well!

Pro Tip

Bouts do not work well pinned onto plain dress shirts. They need to be pinned to something sturdy so they don't get all floppy. It's best to stick with a jacket, a vest, or suspenders. If you must go with dress shirt only, opt for a bout that is very lightweight, like greens only or wax flower.

Same for corsages: if you only have chiffon to pin to, pin through that and onto a bra strap. When your granny decides to drop it like it's hot, the last thing she wants to worry about is her corsage flopping around & ruining her sweet, sweet moves.

Storing your creations

When you've finished making everything, grab a piece of wet floral foam, put it in a bowl of water (make sure the foam is completely saturated), and pop your bouts & corsages in! Take extra care to keep any ribbon or binding wire from touching the foam or water.
You may put this in your fridge, provided it's one you trust to not have any cold spots that could freeze them, and the temp is turned to the warmest setting.
