She Met Him on the Spirit Squad. He Proposed with a Violinist. In Rome. And They Did Their Own Flowers.
Hannah and Sean spent two years as college spirit squad besties before either of them admitted what was obvious to everyone else. He was the mascot. She was on the dance team. They were inseparable but it took a couple of years to realize that they were soulmates.
When Sean finally proposed, he did it in Rome, on a sun-drenched terrace, with a hidden photographer and a violinist playing the song they'd dance to at their wedding.
For their wedding at Arrowhead Golf Course, they skipped the florist and ordered through Flower Moxie instead. Their family came together to arrange everything, and Sean made Hannah's bouquet himself. Her bouquet. Made by her groom. With his hands.
The flowers turned out absolutely stunning, and honestly, the whole thing is the kind of love story that makes you want to call someone.

My husband and I met in college and were both on the spirit team! He was the mascot, and I was on the dance team. Because of this, we saw each other all the time and became best friends. We were friends for about 2 years until we finally woke up and realized we were soul mates! It is true what they say - to marry your best friend!
We love to travel, and on our 4.5-year anniversary, we were in Rome, Italy. Sean loves to watch the sunset, so we walked to a nearby garden, and I didn't think anything of it! When we got there, I noticed there was a violinist playing music (Sean plays violin). I joked to Sean, "Hey, you know this song! Do you want me to ask her if you can play?" Little did I know that the violinist was there for us, and there was also a photographer hiding.
Sean popped the question on the terrace, and then played our first dance song (which we had already picked out) on the violin for me. We snapped photos and then ate amazing pasta. It was better than I could have ever imagined!

We chose DIY flowers because we wanted to save money, and also knew we would have fun making the flowers together! They turned out better than we could have imagined, and it was way less scary than we thought it would be.
How did you go about choosing your wedding color palette?
We loved the color of the palette we chose. It didn't really "go" with our wedding colors exactly, but it was fun and neutral enough that we wanted them to be a fun "pop" of color. The palette never changed. We picked it and stuck with it!
What was your favorite part about DIYing?
It was such a fun thing to do with my family, and it was so special to me that my husband made my bouquet for me.
Who did you have help from?
My mom, sister, brother, and husband all helped make flowers. My husband made my bouquet!
Where did you get married and why did you choose this location?
We got married locally at Arrowhead Golf Course. The views speak for themselves, with the gorgeous red rocks shooting out of the ground.
What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
Our favorite part of our wedding day was getting to celebrate our love with all of our family and friends. We didn’t take the day too seriously, and just wanted to have a party with everyone!
How did you add personalized touches to your day?
We made a candy table with custom candy bags as our guest favors. Something they could take home, but could eat! We also made our cocktail hour into a game hour and had a driving range, cornhole, and spike ball. The guests loved it, and we were sad we missed out on the fun!
Tips for future DIYers?
Buy a lot of mini trash cans from Walmart to store all the flowers, and make sure you have a big car to haul them!
Were there any funny or strange mishaps you can share?
My other sister and her husband were supposed to help us make the flowers, but they got sick, so they couldn't come. My brother stepped in and made bridesmaids' bouquets. I wouldn't have imagined him being willing to do this, and the most shocking part is that they were beautiful!
How did you add personalized touches to your day?
I am most proud that my friends and family were willing to help us so much! We didn't have a day-of coordinator, so our bridal party and family set up all of our decor and made sure everything was set up exactly how we envisioned it. We would not have had the wedding we did without everyone's willingness to help! When the weddding ended, guests even stayed behind and helped us clean everything and pack our cars. Something we didn't ask them to do, but were so grateful we were surrounded by so many amazing people on the most special day of our lives!
In hindsight, is there anything you would have done differently?
Things went wrong here and there (ie my dress had to be re-altered the week before the wedding!) But we had an amazing day and wouldn't have changed anything about it!
Your Turn, Babe. Hannah and Sean didn't have a day-of coordinator. They didn't hire a florist. They had their mom, their siblings (including a brother who made stunning bridesmaids' bouquets), and Flower Moxie’s flowers that made everyone stop and stare.
Their guests stayed late to help clean up. Their brother stepped up when life got in the way. Their flowers turned out better than they imagined. And their wedding? A full-on celebration — complete with a driving range, cornhole, spike ball, and candy bags guests could actually take home and eat.
This is what Flower Moxie is all about: real people, real love, and flowers that don't require a florist's license to pull off. Whether you're crafty or terrified of scissors, whether your crew is a team of ten or just you and your mom at the kitchen table — you can do this.
The blooms are waiting. The love story is yours. The only thing left to do is to start shoping for your flowers. (And maybe practice your violin. Just in case.)
