Nigella works well in wildflower arrangements or mixed with a variety of other fresh blooms! They are the perfect accent or texture to DIY bouquets, boutonnieres, or centerpieces.

Season: Very seasonal, Summer months only (July-September)
Color: Light to medium blue (varying shades throughout bunch)
Description: Small, star-shaped bloom with spiny foliage.
Flower Design Type: Accent or Texture Flower, depending on your design.
The Good: Has a whimsical, wildflower look with tons of texture! A very unique bloom that is visually impactful. Can be used in bouts, centerpieces, and bouquets. Slightly delicate, but still somewhat hardy.
The Bad: A bit delicate with about a 3-4 day vase life. However, Nigella is pretty easy to work with!
- Give the stems a fresh cut and place in cool water.
- Keep away from heat or sun to extend vase life.
- Remove leaves below waterline.
Nigella can be an "Accent Flower" or "Texture Flower." Based on our design suggestions, here are our quantity recommendations:
- Bridal Bouquet: 1/2 bunch
- Maids: 1/4 bunch
- Bouts: 1 stem
- Corsages: 1-2 stems
- Centerpieces: 1/4 bunch
- Large Arrangements: 1-2 bunches (but they honestly are a bit small to make an impact here!)
Flower Moxie reserves the right to make changes or substitutions. All substitutions are only done as a last resort, and only when the reasons for doing so are reasonable and genuine. For example, if a flower becomes unavailable (off-crop), incorrect color, or not in good condition to grace a wedding function we will substitute a flower that has a similar color and price-point.
Acceptable Subs: Blue Tweedia or another texture flower that works within your specific palette.
