What was your favorite part about DIYing?
Being fully in control! I was very particular about how I wanted everything to look so getting to do it myself instead of being a bridezilla with a florist felt so good! It was so fun to play around and add as much or as little as I wanted to my bouquet!

Why did you choose to DIY your flowers?
The number one reason was cost! I had a private ceremony so I knew I wouldn't need anything extravagant and spending thousands for florals just didn't make sense for our day. I also feel like planning a wedding is for the guests, they get to enjoy and see everything and the bride and groom are just busy, so getting to have a hand in florals really made it feel real.
Who did you have help from?
I have 3 sisters so it was the best getting to let them make their own bouquets and spend time together. We really had so much fun playing with colors and making them match our personalities.

Where did you get married and why did you choose this location?
We got married at the Fort Worth Botanic Japanese gardens. I have always wanted a spring outdoor wedding and having our ceremony in a space that was already a gorgeous backdrop made it so easy! It was quiet and small and took the pressure off. Getting married in a location that doesn't need all the extra decor let us focus on the marriage part of wedding planning!
What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
The pictures!! My husband is a very nature, outdoorsy guy and I am very much a city girl, so we balanced this by going into downtown Fort Worth for more couple photos. It was SO FUN to have photos from both the quiet gardens and also the bustling city.
In hindsight, is there anything you would have done differently?
Not a thing! There were a few mishaps with my dress but as everyone always says, no one notices but you! I really went into the day with the mindset that whatever happens happens so just be at peace and have fun and I definitely did. Having all my favorite people with me all day made it so easy and fun.

Tips for future DIYers?
Get more buckets than you think you need!!!! I had to run back out to get more storing buckets and it just made me stress more than I should have. It definitely wasn't as *easy* as you would think so just go into it with that mindset. Once you get past the stress of flowers breaking or not blooming as you want and get to the actual bouquet/vase building, it's so rewarding.
How did you add personalized touches to your day?
Our focus for the reception was FUN, we have been together 10 years so this really was more of a party than anything else. We didn't want to have a table dedicated to loved ones or anything super sentimental so we opted to display vinyl records that reminded us of our loved ones. It wasn't something so obvious and sad but more in theme with good music and a relaxed vibe.

Which part of your wedding are you most proud of?
I am just so proud that everything looked exactly like I was planning for. During the planning process there were so many things that felt too traditional or overdone so I decided to just take things into my own hands and design or do them myself.
The wedding was truly a labor of love and it was nice to SEE all of my efforts come together. It was the most relaxed night and getting to enjoy that with only our closest friends and family made it feel like just any other Saturday night with a side of a wedding.
Anything else you would like to add?
I truly can't recommend Flower Moxie enough for brides/grooms who like to have control. It was such a good feeling to know I was going to get exactly what I had envisioned when I was putting florals together. Go for the consultation with a Flower Moxie florist and rest easy knowing all your questions and concerns will be answered. After 10 years, I got the wedding of my dreams and I am so happy with how the day came together thanks to my own efforts!
