Meet Morgan

  • Full-time mom, part-time nanny, all-time saint
  • Boldly entered floral industry with last name "Wilt"
  • Moved to Chicago to be an official city girl (aka broke)
  • Obsessed with ceramic art – loves drinking her coffee out of cute handmade mugs
  • Has a degree in Tourism and Hospitality, so will treat you like Beyonce
  • Always finds something cute and unsmelly while thrifting

Morgan DIY-ed her own wedding using peonies from her mom and aunt's gardens (with consent we hope?) and was so impressed with her bad self, that she pursued floral design. Girl is a solid listener and straddles two incredibly helpful worlds. Her Kansas upbringing helps you feel instantly welcome. While her Chicago alter ego makes you feel SATC cool. (The OG, not the reboot.)

What’s your favorite wedding you’ve designed and why did it stand out?

Cheesy, but my owwwwnn! I had no idea what I was doing but I had a blast. Putting together my bridesmaid bouquets with my MOH is one of my favorite memories from my wedding—it was just so fun.

What’s your best piece of advice for a DIY bride?

My best advice would be to not take things so seriously—it should be fun! Try to enjoy as much of it as you can.

What floral trend do you secretly hope sticks around forever?

Seasonal greenery—bright, springy and whimsical greens in the spring, lush and deep greens in the summer, shades of gold, bronze and deep burgundy greenery in the fall, and alllll the evergreen branches in the winter. It just makes the designs feel so much more natural and balanced.

Describe your floral design style in 3 words.

Organic, lush, textured

What is one tool you’d never leave the studio without on wedding day?

Not really a tool—but pockets! Either an apron or pants with lots of pockets. So many things to keep track of!

If you could invent a flower that doesn’t exist, what would it look like?

I would LOVE a big, ruffled, fluffy (think peony or giant garden rose) bloom but in different shades of blue!

What color palette will you never get tired of designing with?

Blush pink and cream—some things are simply a classic for a reason!

Wedding day drink of choice:

Hot coffee and a big ole water bottle

What’s your biggest wedding mistake? Save some lives here.

Storing bridesmaid bouquets in a janky garage fridge. They all froze overnight and I had to remake 8 entire bouquets at the venue the next morning. Thankfully I over-ordered and had plenty to work with but DO NOT DO THIS. Bouquets will be just fine in a nice, cool basement!

What’s one thing you wish more people knew about florists?

It’s actually so much sweeping.

Your favorite snack on design days

Cherry pie Lara bar

What’s one thing you’d go back in time and tell your past self on your wedding day?

Today is just one day—it will not be perfect, but it can still be an incredibly happy day!

What’s the one thing all brides should do or have the day/morning of their wedding?

Build time into your schedule to share at least one meal with the people you love before the chaos begins.

What’s your favorite thing about working with DIY brides/couples?

I love working with DIY couples because I get to offer the highest level of customization that’s not always possible in a traditional design setting. I know I’m helping them achieve a design that’s exactly what they’re picturing, all while helping them do so at a comfortable price point.

Funniest/most embarrassing moment at a wedding (either yours or something you witnessed)

One of my first freelancing jobs, we were trying to discreetly move the ceremony arrangements out of a catholic church as people were coming in for mass. I (stupidly) was carrying a giant urn by the stand, which then snapped off from the bowl and came crashing down right in the middle of the center aisle. Flowers, water everywhere. The way the sound echoed, the dirty looks, the way I just stood there frozen until someone offered me a broom…I will never forget.

This is going to be amazing!!
